A new high-speed rail line connecting Los Angeles and Las Vegas is set to hit the rails later this year.
Launched in 2018 in Florida, Brightline was designed to take cars off the road and offer millions of travelers an eco-friendly way to move between the nation’s most visited city pairs.
The new ‘Brightline West’ service will take just three hours to cover the 420-kilometres between the two cities—that’s roughly twice as fast as driving.
“We love high-speed rail at The Travel Authority,” said says The Travel Authority Group’s CEO, Peter Hosper.
“High speed rail services criss-cross Europe, Asia and North Africa, providing brilliant city-centre to city-centre connectivity and value. We’re delighted to see similar services making travel between some of the US’s favourite cities roll out,” added Hosper.
50 million one-way trips made annually between LA and Las Vegas, with 85% of them by car or bus.
It is expected that Brightline journey prices will start on par with the cost of driving including petrol and parking.
“This will transform transportation in Southern California and Las Vegas for generations by providing a fast and efficient connection that gets people out of their cars, reduces traffic congestion and decreases air pollution.”
Fiona Ma, California State Treasurer
We expect Brightline West’s offering to mirror that available on its East Coast services:

Free Wi-Fi is available in both classes.
- Brightline’s zero-emission trains will see some 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide will be removed annually vs. emissions produced by cars and planes.
- Brightline offers a check-luggage and check-in to hotel service.
