CHANGES, Cancellations, C-19 & Beyond
To say there’s a LOT of news coming in from airlines, cruise lines, tour operators, hotels and resorts at the moment is an understatement.
Recent compulsory self-isolation-after-travel regulations have really put the brakes on people’s travel arrangements. It has had a huge impact on our business, so much so that we’ve activated our business continuity plan to see us through this crisis.
News changes by the minute, and communicating it to you as it happens is impractical. We are, however, across the impacts on the travel industry which are significant. We are also certain that the travel bounce-back will be swift when the worst of C19 is behind us.
In fact, we are hard at work preparing for it, and we encourage you to keep thinking about your upcoming holidays.
In the meantime, what we are seeing from airlines and tourism operators is significant rationalisation of capacity and services—typically replacing large aircraft with smaller ones, and reducing the frequency of flights based on demand.
At a practical level, too, many airlines have enhanced their aircraft cleaning practices. And right across the board, we’re seeing extreme levels of understanding and flexibility when it comes to changes and postponements.
The message from all of our travel and tourism operator partners is that you consider changing your plans, not cancelling them.
This is an important consideration in light of the impact C-19’s pandemic status has had on the cover provided by travel insurance policies.
We are travel professionals. We love travel. We love talking about it, and sharing our expertise and personal experiences with our clients and customers.
Pondering travel is a welcome distraction from the woes of the world right now.
